The approach

I photograph the parts nobody thinks to ask for. A hand on a back. The ten seconds before the doors open. The aunt who will not leave the dance floor.

Most of the day I work as a documentarian and you will forget I am there. For twenty minutes, usually as the light goes, we slow down and make a few portraits that actually look like you. That is the entire method.

Ioane, behind the camera.

I'm Ioane. I photograph weddings, elopements and portraits, out of Montréal and wherever the day happens to be.

I work close and quiet, mostly in available light. Grain, warmth and a little darkness are choices here, not accidents. You will get back a version of your day that you actually recognise.

Belle Amour is the name I put on that work. If you like what you see, write to me or send a message on Instagram. I read everything myself.

  • Weddings

    Full day coverage, two photographers when the guest count asks for it, a gallery of roughly 600 images in five weeks.

  • Elopements

    Just the two of you, a witness or twelve, somewhere that means something. Half day and full day.

  • Portraits & editorial

    Couples, families, studio work and small brand shoots. Ninety minutes, one roll of film, one location.
